Ramads Barbershop

on the seawall

Walk in salty. Leave sharp.

The shop

Step off the sand. Sit down salty.

Ramads has held the corner of Seawall and Palm since Kennedy was president β€” three chairs, two lit mirrors, and the Pacific going gold outside the glass. The floor is checkerboard, the towels are hot, and the bench out front has heard sixty-odd years of surf reports.

Nothing here is in a hurry, except the clippers. Come in after a session with salt still in your hair, or on your lunch break, or twenty minutes before a first date you're nervous about. We've fixed worse.

Aerial view at sunset: Ramads Barbershop's striped awning on a beachfront street, the Pacific at the end of the block.

The corner

Two doors from the tide

Last stop before the sand. On a quiet morning you can hear the break from the chair.

Services

The price board

same board since '62, mostly
  • The Ramads Cut$38

Consult, clippers, scissor finish, hot lather at the neck. The house standard.

  • Skin Fade$34

Zeroed low, mid, or high β€” blended until the line disappears.

  • Scissor Crop$36

For longer hair that still needs to behave in the wind.

  • Beard Trim & Line$22

Shape, edge, and a hot towel to settle it down.

  • Hot-Towel Shave$45

Straight razor, two lathers. No small talk unless you start it.

  • The Full Tide$72

Cut, shave, towel, tonic. Book the hour, leave brand new.

  • Grom Cut$24

    Twelve and under. Lollipop non-negotiable.

  • Silver Surfer$28

Sixty-five and up. Same sharp, gentler pace.

No appointment needed β€” the board runs first come, first seated, and if you call ahead we'll chalk you on. Cards, cash, sandy money: all fine. If the surf's pumping and we're short a barber, the bench will tell you the truth about the wait.

Dusk outside the shop: neighbors on the sidewalk bench by the open door, warm light spilling out, the ocean at the end of the street.

Golden hour, daily

The lights stay warm

Bulbs around the mirrors, a bench on the sidewalk, and the door open until the streetlights take over.

House rules

  1. Walk-ins welcome. The bench by the window has never judged anyone.

  2. Boards lean on the rail outside. Dogs nap inside.

  3. Ask for "the usual" and mean it β€” we remember, even if it's been a year.

  4. Nobody leaves during golden hour without looking like it.

Inside the shop: a vintage black-and-chrome barber chair on a checkerboard floor, mirrors ringed with warm bulbs.
